Porter Communities

In 1976, two years after graduating from college, Craig Porter developed his first new home community. Thirty-eight years and hundreds of new homes later, Craig is still providing quality new home communities with cutting-edge, environmentally friendly designs.

Craig started his development business as an extension of the family’s lumber and building materials business, Porters Building Centers

“My father started the lumber business the day I was born,” says Craig. “I started working there when I was twelve, so I guess you could say I have grown up in this industry. Lumber is a major component of any new home and knowing the new homes in my communities are built with the best quality material available is one way to be assured of a top quality product.”

Porter Communities develops many communities as sole owner but on some projects they partner with other top developers in the area.  Most of Porter Communities current projects are in the Northland area of Kansas City, but they have done new home developments in most of the metro counties including Clay, Platte, & Jackson in Missouri and Johnson County, KS.
