Designed to blend with the natural surroundings, Harbor Lake is an environmentally friendly community that allows residents to enjoy their natural surroundings while preserving existing habitats. Harbor Lake is located in the northern part of Smithville and spans 100 acres.
The number of home sites in this community is limited so as to preserve a significant amount of acreage and allow residents to enjoy more private backyards. In fact, most lots back to the community lake or one of the common open spaces throughout the community. The subdivision also has about one mile of hard-surfaced walking trails. Residents will enjoy the quiet lifestyle of rural living while still being close to suburban conveniences.
Smithville Lake borders the community to the east, providing even more opportunities to get out and enjoy nature. The lake has two swimming beaches, reservable shelters, opportunities for boating and sailing, golf courses, equestrian trails, biking and hiking trails, and over 700 campsites.
Despite its seemingly remote location, the Harbor Lake community is close to the Kansas City International Airport and downtown Kansas City. Both destinations can be reached in less than 40 minutes. Residents of Smithville enjoy a lower tax rate than the Kansas City area and also have the advantage of no city property taxes.
Harbor Lake is a premium community in a prime location. One might expect homes in the area to be priced at a premium as well, but home prices range from the $190s to the upper $200s, making Harbor Lake an attainable destination for most homebuyers.
Builders in the community include H2 Development, Tucker Construction, and Manville Construction. These quality builders provide a wide variety of homes, including reverse 1 ½ story, two-story, ranch, and split level.
